I have always enjoyed collectiong vintage fly reels and the one above was plucked from a bin full of grungy old beat up reels... After a few hours of soapy water and a little polish I managed to give this 1890's New York made  salmon fly reel some new life!  (not sure yet of the maker)

The complete history of the Colonist King  Fisherman Contest has just come to me, via Alec Merriman.  Over the next months+++ I will copy and add the highlights of this wonderful and much loved Victoria BC contest.....
